The Orchard

Twelve fruit trees were planted to celebrate 20 years of enjoyable summer ‘Music Weeks’ at the Fort.  It was not anticipated at the time that these annual events would continue but we are delighted that the 26th gathering was held this year in early July.  Only the pandemic stopped us in our tracks!. The trees have struggled to survive the winds and less than ideal conditions, but apart from the Aberwyngryn damson which has died, they have all survived abeit they are rather dwarf.  This year, all the ones which were planted on the leeward side are fruiting, the others, which catch the wind are not.
