October 2022

This proved an outstanding year as regards the diversity and quantity of the fungus which appeared in many places in both the Fort an Dock areas.

Professor Gareth Griffith, who is a specialist in Wax caps, along with Julie Rose, (biologist) carried out a survey.

There were at least 3 club species , 1 earthtongue species, 1 coral and 9 waxcap species. There were also numerous Entoloma species (pinkgills), and probably a Dermaloma sp. More generalist species include Rickenella swartzii Collared Mosscap, Arrhenia sp and the Redlead Roundhead. Also a Plumbous Puffball.
